After Hurricane Idalia there started popping up of American Flamingos at several places throughout Florida and even a couple in Ohio. It is though that the ones in Florida at least got caught up in the hurricane and brought over from Cuba. A flock was first seen at Fred Howard […]

Big Island, Hawaii
The third and final island we visited on our trip to Hawaii was the Big Island. Our first afternoon there mostly consisted of driving from Kona to Volcano which is where we stayed the first 2 nights. We did one stop on the way which was Punalu’u Black Sand Beach […]

The second Island we visited was Maui. In Maui we started with the Road to Hana. We made multiple stops including the Garden of Eden, Ke’anae including Aunt Sandy’s Banana Bread, Pua’a Kaa State Wayside Park, Coconut Glen’s Ice Cream, and Kahuna Gardens. We ended the day at Wai’anapanapa State […]
Oahu, Hawaii

Black Skimmer Colony Revisit (2 posts)
I went back to the Black Skimmer colony this morning. The morning started out with a fantastic sunrise. There were a couple of nests closer to the ropes this time so it was a little easier to get some shots. However the parents closer to the ropes stayed mostly on […]
Black Skimmer Babies
Went to visit a Black Skimmer colony this morning. These babies start hatching at the beginning of this week so I think the oldest may be right around a week old. It is tough to get good shots as the nesting area is roped off (for good reason, it is […]
