Flamingos in Florida

After Hurricane Idalia there started popping up of American Flamingos at several places throughout Florida and even a couple in Ohio. It is though that the ones in Florida at least got caught up in the hurricane and brought over from Cuba. A flock was first seen at Fred Howard Park in Tarpon Springs. The next day they were on Treasure Island Beach. The last 2 days they have been hanging out at Fort Desoto. They were cool to see in the wild in Florida. The only Florida “native” populations are some in the Everglades and a single flamingo named Pinky that hangs out at St Marks NWR near Tallahassee. Hopefully these will stick around and be able to grow the Florida population. Oh yeah, also photographed a cool bridge and a pair of manatees.
