Today we did a Cystic Fibrosis benefit walk that happened at ZooTampa. It was nice as we just got to walk through ZooTampa and go wherever we wanted. It was also overcast this morning so it wasn’t too hot. We made a loop around the whole zoo but the best […]

Lunar Eclipse May 2022
I was able to photograph Sunday night’s full lunar eclipse from my backyard last night. Luckily the weather was good and there were no clouds. The eclipse started around 10:30 and the moon was fully eclipsed by 11:30. I then composited all of the photos into the final finished photo […]
Super Flower Blood Moon over Tampa
Tonight we watched the Super Flower Blood Moon rise over downtown Tampa. The clouds blocked the moon initially but it popped out for a few minutes before ducking behind clouds again.
Morning photo walk
Took a morning photo walk at the Circle B Bar Reserve this morning. Not a lot of super exciting finds today. I did see two Purple gallinule families each with two small chicks. Found a few cool spider webs also.
Rockets Galore
Last night was a night filled with rockets. First was the return of Crew 3. Returning on the SpaceX Dragon Endurance from the international space station after 6 months was a crew of 4 astronauts. It splashed down off the coast of Tampa Bay around 12:45 last night. It was […]
Carnivorous plants in Florida
Did you know that more species of carnivorous plants flourish in the wetlands of Florida than anywhere else in the country. Barred Owlet
Traveled over to John Chestnut park this morning for the first time in a long time to capture this young Barred Owlet. This bird left the nest within the past week or two and just started fledging (flying short distances) over the last 2 days. When I first arrived mom […]
Cape Coral Burrowing Owls
One of the more unique birds in Florida is the Burrowing Owl. The burrowing owl (Athene cunicularia) is a small, long-legged owl found throughout open landscapes of North and South America. In Florida, they are more common in the southern part of the state and can be found throughout rural […]
Florida Milky Way
Headed out last last night (Very early this morning) to shoot the Milky Way with a few photography friends. I keep saying every year that I need to capture the Milky Way more but have only done it twice before last night, once in Grand Teton National Park where it […]
New Rookery
I visited a new rookery that I just recently learned about. It is only about 20 minutes from my house which is nice. Currently the birds are doing everything from nest building, mating, and feeding their chicks. The island has mainly Wood Storks and Great Egrets, but there are several […]
