Florida Milky Way

Headed out last last night (Very early this morning) to shoot the Milky Way with a few photography friends. I keep saying every year that I need to capture the Milky Way more but have only done it twice before last night, once in Grand Teton National Park where it was amazingly bright and last year in Everglades National Park. This morning was perfect for it. No clouds or wind and a little cool and clear. We hit a spot a little ways Southeast of St Petersburg where the others have shot before. I tried a new technique this time which consists of taking multiple exposures and stacking them to bring out detail and decrease noise. It requires special software to align the stars because they are moving during the time of the exposures, but the software was free and pretty simple to use. Sequator is the name of the program I used and I will definitely be playing with that some more in the future. On one of the images I had it do star trails instead of aligning the stars so you can see how much they moved during one set of exposures. Overall I would call it pretty successful. I even got a few hours of sleep too.
