I visited a new rookery that I just recently learned about. It is only about 20 minutes from my house which is nice. Currently the birds are doing everything from nest building, mating, and feeding their chicks. The island has mainly Wood Storks and Great Egrets, but there are several other bird species present also. In a couple taller trees there are a bunch of Double-crested Cormorant nests. The baby birds are very hard to photograph as a lot of them are screened by branches or their parents. Some of the babies are so small you can barely see them over the edge of the nests. I spent about an hour and a half watching and photographing them this morning and was happy with the selection of photos I got.
