Barred Owlet

Traveled over to John Chestnut park this morning for the first time in a long time to capture this young Barred Owlet. This bird left the nest within the past week or two and just started fledging (flying short distances) over the last 2 days. When I first arrived mom had a moorhen that she was pulling apart but did not feed the owlet. I was the owlet fly between several branches and then basically hung out in a sunny spot. After awhile it even laid down on the branch which was a new behavior for me. I also saw a bunch of very tame deer, some Cardinals and a Red-shouldered Hawk.
