The weekend before last I taught my first HDR workshop. During the workshop I also took one of my current favorite images. I have had two or three requests to teach my HDR techniques over the past month or two and finally decided to go ahead with it. In the past I did write up a brief HDR tutorial that is posted here on the site, but I know that most people need a little more than that to learn these techniques. After my show in the beginning of May, one of the attendees asked for an HDR workshop so I did a lot of work to fill out my HDR tutorial and we finally had time to meet up last two weekends ago. We met over at Plant Park at the University of Tampa and photographed the sunrise while talking over camera settings and shooting techniques. We then made our way over to the Platt Street Rail Bridge where today’s first shot was taken. I had recently taken this same angle at night time, but the day time shot is so much more vibrant, especially because it shows off the colorful graffiti. After this we headed back to my student’s condo, which happened to be near the top of the condo building Element in downtown Tampa. While there we went over the processing of images from start to finish including quite a few of the ones I took that morning. I was also asked how to capture the inside and outside of the condo at the same time and the result can be seen at my previous post, here. The other photo tonight was taken on a separate visit, but is also of the Cass Street Rail Bridge. On this visit, we heard the train coming and I set up with the fisheye lens to capture as much of the scene as possible. This photo was processed using the ghosting tool in Photomatix to take care of the movement of the train.
