Great Smoky Mountains Road and Jim Bales Place

We have been back from our trip for about a week and a half now. Because of Hurricane Sandy there is now up to 4 feet of snow in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and up to a foot in Boone, North Carolina. Talk about timing… Here are a few more of my favorite shots from the trip. The first shot is Jim Bales Place. This is one of the homestead cabins that is on the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail outside of Gatlinburg. I took several angle but love this one as I was ale to position the cabin perfectly between the matching reddish trees in the background. The second shot is one of my few successful “sunrise” shots from the Smokies. This is from Newfound Gap Overlook. There was an incredible amount of fog, but there were a few gaps and I was able to capture this winding road through the fall colors.
