I returned to the Sandhill Crane nest site tonight and to my surprise there were no birds there at all. I walked around the park a bit and then came back and the two parents are walking back to the nest followed by their 2 little chicks. The second one must have hatched last night or early this morning. It is already following the parents and its sibling through the mud and muck. At the end of the night they both tucked in mom’s feathers. I got pics of the process, but not the end result.
