Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive

I was able to make it back to Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive on Friday for the first time in quite awhile. It was definitely one of the best photography days I have had in a good bit. I started out with a Peregrine Falcon just before sunrise. I was later told that this female Peregrine Falcon hangs out on this portion of the wildlife drive. I captured a pretty cool sunrise. I got some nice shots of a bunch of waterbirds including Limpkins, Tricolored Herons, Double-crested Cormorants and a few others. I was able to photograph my first Gray-headed Swamphen. They are pretty purple colored and kind of look like Purple Gallinules if they had swallowed a bowling ball. They are invasive from Asia and the Middle East. I also got to photograph a Bald Eagle briefly. On my last pass through I found the Peregrine Falcon again and was able to watch until it flew away and got some flight photos. Very productive for about 4 hours or so of photography.
