Young Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake

After taking the dog for a walk this morning I decided the weather was too nice to not go somewhere (70s in Florida in the almost summertime). Since Weedon Island is my closest spot that is where I went. I wasn’t having too much luck and headed for the less crowded trails. Luckily I came upon this young Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake sunning by the side of the path. I watched for awhile and pointed it out to a few people. After a little bit the snake decided that it had enough and started moving back into the bushes a little but also decided to shake it’s rattle while doing so. Good start to the Memorial Day Weekend for me.
