Spring Migration at Fort Desoto

The spring migration is going on right now so mom and I took a trip out to Fort Desoto to see what we could find. Fort Desoto is one of the best places to see the migrating birds and we found a decent variety. Spring migration is the most exciting as all the birds are in their breeding plumage and are more colorful (well mostly the males).

To see so many different birds all in one area as they fill up on berries is wonderful. There is no such thing as an ugly bird, but two of my favorite birds for their color and beauty are the male scarlet tanager and the rose breasted grosbeak. The scarlet tanager has such bright red coloring and the rose breasted grosbeak is the definition of beauty. Thanks for the great photos once again.
