Spring in Florida is different than in most states. We are not thawing out from a chilly winter like most of the country. Two events happen around the end of winter and beginning of spring in Tampa, Gasparilla and spring training. I did not get to attend the pirate invasion or the kids parade this year for Gasparilla. However, I was able to photograph the pirate ship the Jose Gasparilla parked at the Tampa Convention Center. There was a lot of boat traffic that day including the pirate water taxi. The second event is spring training. I am a Tampa Bay Rays fan myself, but I drive past George M. Steinbrenner Field daily and know that there are a lot of Yankee fans in the area.
