During the week we spent in South Dakota this summer, we spent one day driving around the area of Spearfish, South Dakota. There are several interesting attractions in this area. The kids enjoyed Spearfish Park which had a nice stream (with cold water) running through it. They liked splashing around in the water. There is also a huge, fancy playground. Right next door is the DC Booth National Fish Hatchery. I took this picture of the Rainbow Trout jumping there. My favorite spot is Roughlock Falls which is about 15-20 minutes away along the Spearfish Scenic Byway. We arrived mid afternoon so I used a neutral density filter to extend the exposure time and allow for the silky water.
