I spent the morning out at the Circle B Bar Reserve in Lakeland today. It is probably the best place near Tampa to see a lot of gators, including some big ones. I also saw a Wild Turkey, Bald Eagle, Sandhill Crane with colt, Limpkin with babies, 3 Barred Owls including a young one and an Indigo Bunting to name a few of the highlights. Today I am going to focus on the alligators. I saw something I had never seen in the wild. As I came up to one smaller pond, I saw a gators head sticking out of the water. Underneath the water I saw the lighter color, but it took me a minute to discover that it was another gator (or part of one anyway) that was in the first gator’s mouth. I only got a shot or two because he kept ducking under the water to hide his catch from me. I also saw a confrontation by a bigger gator and a smaller one that just ended with the smaller one taking off in the other direction.
