Moonset and Sunrise at Fort Desoto

This morning my plan was to go to the South Skyway Bridge Fishing Pier to capture the full moon setting over the water and the sun rising over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. However, on arrival, I was told that the bridge is only open for fishermen between sunrise and sunset. The person working stated this has been the case for at least the 8 years she has been working there. I find that interesting since I have photographed at least 10-15 sunrises from there and never had an issue. From now on I’ll just say I’m fishing I guess. What a stupid policy! Anyway, at least I always leave myself extra time so I headed over to Fort Desoto. I captured the moon setting over the fishing pier. I then scooted around the corner in time to catch the sun rising over the Bay Pier. For the moon photo, I had to composite a telephoto and a regular version together to get detail in the moon, but I tried to make it as close to what I saw as possible. For the sunrise, these two bikers just happened to be passing down the pier at just the right time for me to capture a few silhouettes.
