We just returned from a 9 night trip to Costa Rica for my birthday. The highlight was definitely Pacuare Lodge. It is just a special place! Pacuare Lodge is an ecolodge in Limon, Costa Rica, about 2-3 hours from the capital, San Jose. Pacuare Lodge is in the middle of the rainforest, yet the accommodations are the best I’ve ever stayed in. My wife and I both agree that this is our favorite place that we have ever been. To get into the lodge requires a 1 hour white water rafting trip with a guide. It is not too strenuous. Once we got to the lodge we were amazed. The service from arrival through departure was fantastic. The room, a Linda Vista Suite, was spectacular. It was open on one side, covered only by screen. This side faced the river and our deck with our very own spring fed plunge pool. Listening to the water flowing at night was extremely peaceful. Best sleep I’ve had in a long time. The food was very good and there was a good variety. We saw a fair amount of wildlife including 2 sloths, tarantulas, monkeys, and lots of birds. By the way, there is only one spot that you can get an internet connection or plug in electronics. Do yourself a favor and put them away and enjoy! Rafting out was more strenuous and took about 3 hours, but was a blast. It was probably our favorite thing we did on this trip. Pacuare Lodge is definitely someplace that should not be missed.
