Sunshine Skyway Bridge, St Petersburg

The Sunshine Skyway Bridge in St Petersburg is one of the most photogenic places in our area. (The Bob Graham Sunshine Skyway Bridge is a bridge spanning Tampa Bay, Florida, with a cable-stayed main span, and a total length of 21,877 feet (4.1 miles or approximately 6.67 km). Construction of the current bridge began in 1982, and the completed bridge was dedicated on February 7, 1987. The new bridge cost $244 million to build, and was opened to traffic on April 20, 1987. It replaced an older bridge constructed in 1954 and partly destroyed in a collision in 1980.) Wikipedia. My two favorite places to photograph the bridge from are the Skyway Fishing Pier which are parts of the old bridge that are still open for fishing (or photography) or from Fort Desoto. There are two separate piers that give a little different viewpoints on the bridge. For me, the South Skyway Fishing Pier gives the better angle because of where the sun rises which is usually when I am out there. The East Beach turnaround at Fort Desoto is also a great place to photograph sunrise over the bridge.
