More Fort Desoto Birds

I am still working through a lot of my photos from my recent outings, but here are a few bird pictures from Fort Desoto on Saturday in the meantime. There is a Great Horned Owl nest at Fort Desoto that has been well documented by a lot of photographers for the last couple of years. The babies from this year are to the point that they are just learning to fly. On Saturday this great horned owl chick climbed out to the end of a branch and his mom kept trying to coax him into flying. He did not while I was there. The second shot is from the gulf pier. The double crested cormorant had one of the coveted lightposts and was not about to let the great blue heron fly in and steal his spot.
