“Timing is everything” is a saying that definitely applies to photography. So of course the day we showed up on the University of Pittsburgh campus was graduation day and there were students and graduates hanging out all over the place. Inside the Cathedral of Learning the access was a bit limited but as long as I was willing to wait for a few minutes I could get some shots without too many people in them. Over at the Heinz Cathedral I used a different technique. I positioned the hedges to block out the graduates taking pictures out front.
