This year I visited the Black Skimmers on Indian Shores a little too early. There were only a couple of parents with chicks and the ones that were there were all pretty small and not doing a lot. Only 1 week or two later Tropical Storm Debby came and destroyed a good part of the colony. Luckily it was fairly early in the season so the Skimmers were able to have more chicks and I hear it is mostly back to normal now. In these two photos you can see a tiny baby Black Skimmer and its parents and then a juvenile Black Skimmer.
