We were busy moving my oldest daughter into her apartment in Gainesville this weekend as she gets ready to start college. This morning I made a quick trip out to Sweetwater Wetlands Park while most of the rest of the crew slept in. Didn’t find anything amazing and was absolutely soaked with sweat by 8:30 but got a few interesting shots. Probably the best series was a Green Heron that actually posed in the open briefly. Also got a few shots of a Least Bittern and captured my first Belted Kingfisher of the season.

Great Blue Heron getting excited

Least Bittern peeking out-This is actually less shy than many of them are.

Green Heron

Juvenile Purple Gallinule-they like to eat those flowers that it’s standing on.

Female Belted Kingfisher-always a challenge to get photos of as they usually fly away if you glance in their direction.
