Neighborhood rounds

The Killdeer are gone, but my woodpecker babies are still around for a little longer. I went back to visit them again and got some good shots. I also got a bonus, a pair of Red-tailed Hawks which is the first time I have seen them in the neighborhood. I then peeked at the Screech Owl on the way home.

This is dad feeding his little boy. You can tell with the red under the jaw.

Dad cleaning out the nest.

Little girl. Note the black under the jaw.

Here you can see the two. The girl on L and boy on R.

Red-tailed Hawk landing on Plant water tower.

If you are squeamish you might want to stop here. The hawk in the following pictures has 2 baby ducks in its talons.

The Kestrel did not like the Hawk in its area.

Red-tailed Hawk in flight.

Grumpy face.

Great photos of the Pileated taking care of its babies. The next photos demonstrate that even good parents can’t always take care of their babies all of the time as the Red Tail Hawk pilfered two ducklings. Nature at work.

Men often need to do housecleaning also. Beautiful birds.

Sometimes you see the best things in the neighborhood.
