Six years after putting up a Screech Owl house it looks like we may finally have a resident. I first spotted it Monday afternoon and have now seen it both Tuesday and Wednesday. I have seen them in the neighborhood occasionally at night when I run but could never determine where they live. Strangely enough on my run Tuesday night I discovered a second Screech Owl location. It is literally 2 houses down from or old house in a dead palm tree. I also spotted a Killdeer nesting at the elementary school directly in front of where I park to pick up Emery. They roped it off with caution tape the next day. Killdeer nest in the open ground sometimes in parking lots or fields. They are known for pretending to have a broken wing to and displaying and walking away from the nest to lead predators away from it.

Screech owls: welcome to the neighborhood. Nice to move into a ready made house.
We used to hear screech owls in our neighborhood, but no more. Maybe the Barred Owls chased the out. Surprising that you should find two owl and one killdeer nest – oh happy day!
