Returned to one of the owl nests this morning. I had already been told that 2 of the babies had fledged. They are in the woods behind the nest somewhere. There is still one baby left as this one was the runt of the litter. It seems to be doing well. It definitely has more space now and gets all of the food delivered to the nest for itself. I expect it to fledge within the next week or so. I also got some good views of the parents and probably my best flight shots. Warning – there are several shots with prey (all rats I think). I also got good shots of a Snowy Egret, Little Blue Heron and Greater Yellowlegs at the same spot. On the way home I stopped at a rookery. A rookery is a tree island that birds nest in. Didn’t see a lot there but got a few shots including the alligator.
