Running out of room

Arrived at the Barred Owl tree this morning with both babies out on the edge of the opening and one climbing out above the nest hole. Things are getting a little tight in there and I expect them to fledge within the next week. Later they both went back into the nest cavity but one decided to climb and peek out of the top. It was a little comical. I also stopped at the basket nest that I posted last week. This time I got a baby Great Horned Owl peeking out at me. I made one more stop at the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary looking for some baby birds but couldn’t find them. Finally at home we have some Monarch caterpillars munching on our milkweed that I took a little video of.

Popping out. This was taken about 20 minutes before sunrise and it was also cloudy so it was really dark.

What are you doing up there?

Exploring

Hanging by a beak.

I’m pretty sure the one on the bottom is pretending like he doesn’t know the one on top.

Time for a morning nap in the sun.

Mom was napping too.

A tisket, a tasket, what the heck is in that basket? A couple week old Great Horned Owl peeking out of the improvised nest.

A really close view of the eye of a Lesser Black-backed Gull

Brown Pelican fixing a stick on its nest.

The hungry little caterpillar.

These may be my favorite pictures of the baby owls, and that is not easy to say. What marvelous photos. Those babies are playing like they are in an episode of the Keystone Cops. I don’t know how you can continue to take such incredible shots, but thanks for doing so.
