Variety Pack

Started the day at the Barred Owl nest. Got a few shots of the babies and both parents. The nest cavity is getting a little tight for the babies now and they are doing a lot of stretching of their wings. Afterwards I did a little walk around the park and got some good photos of a Wood Duck, Common Gallinule, Green Heron, Alligator, and Black-Crowned Night Heron. I stopped to check on a Great Horned Owl nest nearby. Apparently the nest blew down with a recent storm but people rescued them and put them back in the tree in a basket. I couldn’t see the babies but I’ll check back next week. I also stopped to check on a pair of Great Horned Owls that fledged a week or two ago. I eventually found them cuddling together in a tree several hundred feet from their nest tree. Finally we had a picnic at a park and I got pics of another momma Great Horned Owl resting in an oak tree.

Dang, it does not get any better than these shots. Those owls just blend into the trees and the holes they nest in. Every shot is a Gem and I believe I now a Jewell who will love these pictures. In fact, I know a 103 year old Grandma Jewell, a 46 year old Rebecca Jewell and an 11 year old Kyla Jewell. These zjewells fit right in with your photo Gems.
