One Park Day

For the first time in a while I spent all of my shooting time at one spot. The Barred Owl nest finally has babies and I eventually got a glimpse or two but no great shots. However, arriving early paid off again as I caught the male perched in several spots near the nest and watched the female fly down and enter the nest. I spent some time with a Roseate Spoonbill that landed nearby. I also visited a Male Wood Duck. I returned to the nest a second time and was rewarded with a little peek. Next week I should be able to get much better shots of the babies.

Mom wasn’t in the cavity originally but when I squirrel got a little too close she flew in.

Let me tell you what I like about these pictures: EVERYTHING. The owl shots are great, especially the one where the owl and the tree look like they it was meant to be blended together. Wonderful. How can anyone not love the spoonbill. The beautiful pink coloring is amazing. And, there are few birds better looking than a wood duck. God put the colors together perfectly.
