Went to check on my favorite Barred Owl nest this morning. Looks like maybe another 2 weeks or so before babies. I did catch some interesting shots of a Squirrel peeking into the nest. While watching a juvenile Red-shouldered Hawk and a Male Northern Cardinal both posed nicely for me. I checked another nest. It is in a bad spot for photography but I thought it was interesting you could see the food cache. Returned to the nesting platform from yesterday. Babies mostly hiding but mom was out snoozing nearby.

Great photos, but that cardinal is my favorite.

The pictures just keep on getting more magnificent. The owls photos are spectacular, but the squirrels peeking into the owl’s nest raises all sorts of questions. First, what is that squirrel looking for? Is he asking the owl if he will vacant his home. Is he trying to steal food from the owl’s nest? Who knows?
