Went out to a park in Florida for the first time in over a month. I braved the heat from 7-9 AM and was still completely sweat soaked afterward. I wasn’t expecting a lot of wildlife because of the time of year so went with the plan to practice some macro (close up) photography. I got lucky and found a gorgeous Corn Snake too.

Roseate Skimmer and Eastern Pondhawk Dragonflies.

Corn Snake. You can see my reflection in the eye of the last shot.

Ornate Bella Moth and Common Bagworm Moth Cocoon (this was the first time I actually saw one of these moving).

Gulf Fritillary and White Peacock Butterflies.

Bird Grasshopper.

It stinks that these are so freaking cute. Unfortunately they are baby invasive Cuban Tree Frogs.

Fiery Skipper and Clouded Skipper.

A pair of Long-jawed Orbweavers canoodling and a Gulf Fritillary.

Parent Common Gallinules feeding their chicks.

Scarlet Skimmer and Four-spotted Pennant dragonflies.
Matt finds the beauty in nature wherever he goes. Good for him, because we are surrounded by nature’s beauty, but most people are moving too fast to see it. As Matt constantly demonstrates, nature’s beauty is never more than s few inches or feet from us. Just look around you.
Poetry in photography. Reminds me of Mary Oliver poem The Summer Day “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life”
