Northern Lights in Florida

Well, I know this is not the most amazing Aurora shot, but I am finally convinced that it does show the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) in Florida from just North of Crystal River on Sat Night/Sunday AM. Late Friday night when I saw photos from Florida with the Northern Lights start popping up I desperately wanted one of my own. It was about 11:30 Friday night but I immediately got dressed and tried 3 different locations in South Tampa but was unable to get anything. I came home depressed and upset that I missed what might be a once in a lifetime type of experience. Two friends and I took the wild shot on Saturday night of driving to much darker skies which was about an hour and a half drive. We got there around 11:30 and setup and started taking pics facing North. For only about 2-3 pics this red glow showed up just after 12:30 AM. My friend was convinced that we saw the Aurora but I was very skeptical. However after processing and posting my photo, almost every comment agreed that it was Aurora. I was finally convinced by another photographer that captured very tall light pillars at the exact same time in Kansas. Our Aurora was just the tip of those pillars peaking over the horizon very briefly.

I read that the Northern lights are being sighted from CA to FL to parts of Europe. Amazing.
Keep up the good work, Matt.

That looks amazing! I always thought we might see them in Minnesota but never did.
