When you have a sunrise spot less than 10 minutes from your house it just kind of becomes the default place to go. Ballast Point Park is that for me. You get a water view with a pier and the sunrise over the water. Hard to beat that.

Tampa Pier Sunrise
A few more sunrise shots from Ballast Point Park in South Tampa. I usually start wide to capture the colors of twilight and then like to switch to a telephoto lens once the sun is up to capture the big ball of sun rising over my subject.

Have I mentioned that I like taking photos at Ballast Point Park. Lots of great viewpoints, including of Tampa and pointing the right direction to capture nice sunrises over the water. It also has several cool features including the two piers that you can include in your photos.
