Birthday Trip 2019 – Las Vegas Again

For my 40th Birthday, Las Vegas seemed like a good place to go even though we were there a few years ago (for my 36th birthday). We stayed in the Cosmopolitan Hotel this time. It is great because it is very centrally located, has a lot of awesome food options, beautiful decorations, and a bonus – balconies. Our view was pretty nice.

For my birthday dinner we went to the Top of the World Restaurant in the Stratosphere Hotel. The food was pretty good, but a bit overpriced. The view however was pretty spectacular.

For our show that night we went to see David Copperfield at the MGM Grand. We has also seen him (in Tampa) on my 18th birthday.

On Day 2 we did a food tour. We ate at Javier’s in the Aria hotel. Fantastic Mexican food. Really cool design including the most intricate chainsaw carving I have ever seen.

Our second stop was Estiatorio Milos, a mediterranean restaurant in the Cosmopolitan. We had an amazing greek salad, octopus and fried zucchini stack We then walked to Momofuku’s also in the Cosmopolitan. We had a pork bun and some ramen. Lastly we stopped at Cucina by Wolfgang Puck where we got a plateful of desserts. This was definitely a good way to try a lot of really good food.
That night we went to Zumanity, a Cirque du Soleil show in New York, New York. It was different, but definitely entertaining.

The next morning I woke up early and wandered the hotels taking pictures before too many other people were up. I also saw a fantastic sunrise.

We also took a helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon including a boat ride on the Colorado river and went on the Skywalk. The helicopter was definitely a new experience for both of us and was cool flying down into the Grand Canyon and getting great views of the strip as we flew back.

This night we stayed in the hotel and went to the Wicked Spoon Buffet which was good and saw the show Opium. This was definitely our favorite show. The variety of acts were amazing. One of the coolest one was just a guy blowing bubbles and what he was able to make them do.

Our last full day we went to the Sterling Brunch at Bally’s, expensive but so good. This was the first thing I booked for our trip, even before hotel or flight. Later we met Christina’s aunt and uncle who were in town at the Mirage hotel and watched the NFC championship game with them. For dinner we went back to Estiatorio Milos. It was good, but we definitely got the best stuff on the food tour. Finally, we went to see the Blue Man Group. The show was good, but very similar to one we saw in Orlando probably 10 years or so ago.

Finally, a few night shots from our balcony including some fireworks over Caesar’s Palace.
