About Me

Matthew Paulson
Matthew Paulson

Matthew was born and raised in the Tampa Bay area and has lived in Pinellas Park, Palm Harbor, Gainesville, New Tampa, and currently in South Tampa. He married his high school sweetheart, Christina, who he met at East Lake High School in Tarpon Springs. They graduated from the University of Florida (Go Gators!) even though he was brought up as a Florida State Seminole fan. They now have 3 young daughters, Lindsay, Jordan, and Emery.

Matthew has always enjoyed going out to parks and been interested in nature and wildlife. One of the main reasons that he got into photography was to share beautiful places and wildlife with friends and family. Any time Matt had a day off from work he would take off for a park or wildlife preserve. Some of his favorites are Everglades National Park, Three Lakes Wildlife Management Area near Kissimmee, Myakka River State Park in Sarasota, and Fort Desoto closer to home. Matthew has even done day trips to the Everglades (It’s about a 5 hour drive each way).

With the birth of his three daughters, his photography has shifted closer to home. Cityscapes now complement his nature photography. Frequent visits to the same locations have allowed him to capture different lighting, events or unique angles. Matthew has really come to enjoy documenting the beautiful places around the Tampa Bay area. My favorite things to photograph in Tampa are the skyline, the University of Tampa and the bridges and waterways.
