Dry Tortugas Wildlife

We saw a good variety of wildlife at Dry Tortugas National Park, both above and below the water. My favorite was a resident Green Sea Turtle that has been hanging out inside the moat wall for the last couple months. We spent a good amount of time watching the turtle and I was happy to get to photograph one in the wild for the first time. We also saw a lot of hermit crabs. Our tent seemed to be the meeting spot and there were often a100 or so crabs hanging out right next to our tent. We saw the normal Dry Tortugas birds including the Brown Noddy, Sooty Terns, Magnificent Frigatebirds and the Masked Boobies. We also saw a lot of interesting fish and a cool basket starfish. See related posts for Dry Tortugas Scenery and Key Deer and Robbie’s Marina.
