June 9th continued. After driving over the snowy Dunraven Pass we arrived in the canyon area. Since it was now close to midday it was fairly busy but we stopped at Lookout Point and Red Rock Trail and then Inspiration Point.
We continued through Hayden Valley heading towards our cabin at the Lake Yellowstone Hotel. Shortly after entering Hayden Valley we stopped where a bunch of cars were and were able to see a white wolf. The wolf was fairly close and eventually crossed the road. This was purely lucky timing as we went through Hayden Valley 8-9 more times without any other wolf sightings.
We hit the Mud Volcano area and LeHardy Rapids and then headed on to Lake.
The next morning I caught a beautiful sunrise over Yellowstone Lake.
We returned to hit the other areas of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone including Artist Point and Brink of the Lower Falls. My girls then turned in their Junior Ranger books and got the nice patches.
Finally saw an elk with a decent set of antlers coming back through Hayden Valley and then a nice reflection and it was time to leave Yellowstone again.
Next was back to Grand Teton National Park for a final day before our flight out. Return to the Tetons
Return to Yellowstone Geyser Area, Mammoth to Tower or Grand Teton Days 1-3.
