Views from Ballast Point Park

One of my go to spots, especially for sunrise is Ballast Point Park. First, it’s less than 10 minutes from my house. Second, the 2 piers provide many good subjects to capture during the sunrise. I usually try to include the downtown Tampa skyline into the shot if possible. One of my other favorite things to do is to try to use the mangroves to frame the scene I’m photographing. For this shot I titled Window to Tampa everything came together. This is one of those shots that I knew I was going to love as soon as I walked onto the scene. I found it by walking along the path bordering the water after I had captured the sunrise. All of the sudden there was this perfect frame made of mangrove trees around the city of Tampa. The piece of concrete with the interesting graffiti just put it over the top for me.
