Full Moon Over Tampa Composites

Capturing a full moon along with a skyline is a difficult thing to do. If you use a wide angle lens which is what most poeple would use to capture a skyline then the moon is a small white dot. The only way to capture the moon and the skyline in a single shot would be to a good distance away and use a telephoto lens. This would make the moon much larger, but you still would likely have trouble getting the exposure to match between the moon and the city. I chose option number three. I shot the skyline as I normally do. I then captured the moon with a telephoto lens. Finally I composited the moon back into the photo. With the first photo of the skyline and the moon I put the moon in a position where it is not normally and made it much larger than it would ever be. With the second shot, Moon over Harbour Island, I added the moon back in right where it was while I was photographing and kept it the same size. The difference is the amount of detail you can see in the moon.
