Today’s first shot is a composite. The second shot is the base file I used to make it. Here is the general process. First, I processed the file with my normal technique. I then added the fireworks to the main photo by placing them underneath and using the lighten blend mode. Some masking was required to remove everything except the fireworks. I used three separate fireworks photos. I then created a copy of the top portion of the image to the waterline. I then flipped this vertically and placed it below the original skyline. Finally I used the path blur tool pointed straight down to blur the reflection. I will give credit to the photographer I learned this technique from as soon as I remember the name.
