This morning I went down to downtown St Petersburg to catch what I could of today’s partial solar eclipse. It did not last long, but was cool to see anyway. When taking photos where the sun is the main subject I almost always try to look for a silhouette to include in the photo. Here I used a channel marker and a great blue heron which had landed on a nearby dock. I chose to go to St Petrsburg because I figured that was the nearest place I could think of where I could get a good stretch of water leading to the horizon in the East.
